Make An Enchanting DIY Fairy House With Forest Finds

Dress up your garden or home by making a fun little fairy houses. You can craft a single house or make an entire town. Most of the items needed to make these houses can be found lying around your yard or collected during a walk. If you like, you can always buy a few special elements, but you don’t have to unless you wish. Fairy Houses are just as nicely made with just the building elements you find while on your walks in the public parks or even in your yard.

Some of the materials you can use:

  • Interesting twigs, sticks, bark, dry grasses, tree bark,  moss and lichens
  • Acorns and acorn caps
  • Sea shells, dried gourd
  • Spanish moss, green moss, and reindeer lichen
  • Dried flowers for the indoor house
  • Bits of ribbon and colored string
  • Pine cones, dried mushrooms, feathers, nuts
  • Grapevine or honeysuckle vine, dried vine, grapevine tendrils
  • Pebbles, gravel, river rock, stones, gravel
  • Craft sticks, Floral wire, wire cutters, Sculpey clay, fairy statue
  • Scrap wood shavings, Wood fungus

A fairy house built in the woods will look different than one built at the beach!

Other Supplies to Consider:

  • Paint, wood glue, hot glue gun, craft glue, outdoor glue, spray varnish

For your BASE you will need a large flat item such as:

  • Mini Flower Garden Pots (you can plant small flowers inside)
  • For an indoor house: a strong cardboard
  • An inexpensive doll house, roof material
  • An old Christmas nativity stable
  • Slice of wood, patio stone, tree bark slab
  • Hollowed out old tree branch, large clay pot
